Lady in Red

Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Are you single? Not getting laid as often as you like? Think about what colors you typically wear, and it could have something to do with that. No shit. Forget how popular deep colors are this season and throw those out of your mix.

Start rocking red says a psych professor and Chris De Burgh. Maybe he was onto something?

Excerpt from the article on MSNBC:

"Men rated a woman shown in photographs as more sexually attractive if she was wearing red clothing or if she was shown in an image framed by a red border rather than some other color, U.S. researchers said on Tuesday."

OK, not buying it.

"The men also were asked, "Imagine that you are going on a date with this person and have $100 in your wallet. How much money would you be willing to spend on your date?" When she was clad in red, the men said they would spend more money on her."

What!? Do they not know that red isn't an "in" color right now? Plus, it doesn't look good on all skin types. And this isn't the early 90's where men loved the red lips/skin tight dress of Cindy Crawford either.

Personally, I don't look good in a bright red because I'm pretty pale - not a whole lot of skin pigment going on. Maybe a more muted burgundy, but definitely not Valentine's day red. Unless you are of Latin descent, I don't think red will look that fabulous on you. Although, I could be wrong about this.

Ladies, when you are going on a date, how much, if any, do you pay attention to color? And, that includes coordinating what's underneath the clothes as well.

I look horrible in red. HORRIBLE.

So, I stick to blue or gray -- which both bring out my eyes.

I think it is true in that a bright red dress always makes a girl stick out. I'm assuming the male species is related to the bull species since we both seem to be full of bullshit.

hmmmmm i think i'd have to go out on dates to consider what color i should be wearing? ha.

i love red though. granted, i have dark hair and olive skin.

all things considered...pretty sure this study is bullshit ;)

I love color. I wear a lot of black to work, but other than that I am usually in some color.

I am blonde/blue eyed so I think red can work on me. Mostly thought I wear a lot of blues, turquoises, greens and yellows. Really I wear any color other than orange or brown.

ugh i look god awful in red and i really don't like the color in general. i don't think i ever consciously paid attention to colors unless they were my absolute favorites. (i.e. baby blue on a guy with blue eyes)

color? I don't think so much of color, there are more important factors. Like the exposion of cleavage...the length of the shirt, tightness of the pants...what shoes to wear? Color? who has time for that?

Red isn't my color either - I'm pasty and proud!

I do pay attention to color. Black is easy, but I tend to go for that bluish-purple color or green to make my eyes pop and my skin look not so washed out. And if that means I have to pick up the tab, so be it!
