blanket stealer

Tuesday, December 2, 2008
I don't know about you people, but sleeping with another person in the same bed is not an ideal situation for me. I like to wrap my feet and self around in a blanket with a combination of three pillows. If you ask the BF, he says I have "sleeping issues." It's always me, he says, I'm the one stealing the covers with my crazy get-up with my pillows.

Since he has redesigned the bedroom to accommodate his PS2 fishing game, he's been the one dominating the blankets. I wake up in the middle of the night, shivering and trying to pull some of the blankets from the black hole that is his side of the bed. When I do try to get some of them back, I start to push him off the bed very slowly by inching my way on his side of the bed.

(He has caught on to my game.) When he realizes what I'm going to do, he always tells me to "get my caboose out of his backyard."

Is there such thing as sleeping etiquette? If so, I need to sign the BF up ASAP for a class or five of those.

I push my manfriend out of bed, so he says but it's cus I seek his warmth. I can't help it. Theres your million dollar idea....start a sleeping etiquette class. Women would sign men up in droves. Class #1, how not to rattle the windows when you snore.

I am always amazed that no matter how large the bed - a girl can take up a majority of it. Or HAVE to sleep on one side but always end up 3/4 of the way on the other side. I could make a bed the size of America and give a girl the West Coast but by midnight she's going to be creeping up on Illinois.

Yes -- there is such thing as sleeping etiquette. . .however, it's unfortunately difficult to follow the rules when your body is in an involentary state (especially for men, it seems).

That means that things like violent twitching and snoring like a dying animal or most likely un-preventable. . .

*sigh*

A friend of mine and her husband actually have two seperate comforters on their bed. That seems to work for them.

My friend and her husband do the same thing Shoes Always Fit mentioned - they share a bed but have their own blankets! I tend to just be colder than my bf at night, so I usually just add a blanket on top of my side... :-) Good luck! I hate being cold at night!

I too am a blanket stealer. Though it's not intentional, it happens almost every night that I'm not alone. It's great just to roll over and let the blankets engulf you...

Unfortunately, sleeping etiquette probably isn't real - but I always tell the BF to fight back. Because when he decides to start sleeping diagonal, I certainly do. Though if you hear of a class, let me know, I'll enroll him.

It's so hard to find good sleeping harmony. My boyfriend is more of the stealer. Having him and my dog in bed at the same time leaves me cold and without room to move.

Yeah...I have this problem too. I have the tendency to steal covers b/c I like to have them bunched up by my face. That's fine when we're spooning but less fine if we are facing each other--we end up with kind of a blanket fence in b/w us and that's when the thievery kicks in.

Try sharing a bed with a boyfriend and 2 boxers...not fun! I used to give up and go sleep on the couch but now I elbow the bf in the ribs...it's a sure thing to wake him up...and he rarely remembers!! haha try it

Weren't you gonna buy a KING size bed???Love, Mom/Dad

King sized bed is the way to go (A European King is wider, and a California King is longer....we went wider and have our own zip codes, but still fight about covers and whatnot).

Wouldn't it make sense for companies to make extra wide comforters/sheets and end this issue once and for all.

I make too much sense.

lately the bf and i have been stealing blankets from each other. i get the most because i get so cold and he gets some too. but seriously our bed sheets get strewn about every day, it's sort of ridiculous.

We have this problem too - Andy's a huge cover hog, so I wake up cold every night. I still haven't found a solution, although, we also have friends who have his & hers blankets.

i could care less about the covers, it's the pillows that i hoard.

even in the winter, i'm like the torch from the fantastic four. i'm always warm.

i do require pillows. one for the head, one to lean against and one between my knees (i don't like them to touch. it's my deal, don't worry about it.)

somehow, people, i call pillow pilferers, steal my pillows in the middle of the night and i wake up with my head on the mattress, my knees touching and on my back. not good.

i like the two comforter idea though.

I sleep that way too and I like to be in the middle of the bed.

I can totally relate. I am also living in since at least for the next two months. Here's my post on saving our individuality for our sanity in relationships. Hope you enjoy!
