visiting the concrete jungle

Hello New York!

To celebrate my impending 28th birthday, I've convinced a friend to join me to trek around the beautiful (and cold) New York City for a few days this weekend.

I've never been a tourist in the city with the exception of a college trip, which honestly at this point is a blur. Plus, I've been there another time last year for work but I was in and out in 18 hours. I couldn't see much other than the inside of a few buildings and my hotel room.

We have three full days in the city and we've already mapped out where we want to go, including the Empire State building to take pictures, Macy's, Bergdorf's and Saks to see the holiday windows and pick up a few things, eat some NY pizza and make a sign to get on the Today Show. (Watch to see me Monday morning!) We are going to spend the afternoons shopping and seeing Greenwich Village, Soho, Chinatown and Tribeca.

For those of you who live in NY or visit often, any must do places to shop or eat you can recommend? We have a running list but feel free to send any suggestions my way.

Enjoy, enjoy, ENJOY! And make it to Christopher Street. And definitely eat at some greasy spoon of a diner. God, I love it there. I need to plan a trip. Asap. Sighhhh.

I'm so jealous - have fun!
I think I'd go just for the mass amount of cupcake places they have in NYC! :)

Get cupcakes at Crumbs or Magnolia Bakery. If you like Sex and the City, go to Magnolia. :)

Go to Eataly - its AMAZING. Also Food Parc is pretty cool.

REALLY good dinner is Dell'Anima or L'Artusi - my ex boyfriend owns them!

Top of the Rock has great views, and less lines than Empire State.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know!

Chocolate By The Bald Man near the Flatiron Building. Totally excessive, ridiculously decadent. You'll become diabetic just reading the dessert menu (a total of 24 pages).

My girlfriends and I went to Lips, a drag bar in the Village. It was hilarious and a great place to kick off our evening.

I live near NYC and go often. Whenever I have visitors, I always take them to Top of the Rock- awesome views and they have a rotating restaurant! So fun! Shopping in/around Union Square is fun, and also great proximity to Max Brenner- if you love chocolate, you will LOVE this place! Enjoy, and happy birthday!
