spring fashion time

With April almost here, I swear it's going to get warmer and I'll be buy to all the floral print dresses I currently have sitting in shopping carts from Zappos to Ruche looking for trench coats, platform and wedge sandals and fun, spring dresses with light jackets. With that said, I'm going to share some of items I've been loving and adding to my online shopping bags.

Ellie Goulding -
While this has absolutely nothing to do with fashion, I've been playing her music on repeat since I somehow I came across her music on iTunes. It reminds me of spring in some weird with her voice.

Lights, Your Biggest Mistake, Under the Sheets, This Love (Will Be Your Downfall)- favorite songs

Here's a video for the song "Starry Eyed"

By way of a coworker, she introduced me to my new favorite site - Ruche. It's a mix of Anthropologie with Francesca's pricing and I want every flower and light colored dress they have available. Here's the kicker - if you see something you love, order it and order it quick. Everything I picked below is currently sold out but occasionally certain pieces will become available again.

Love across the universe dress, $36

Debonair wear ruffle dress in mocha, $38

My silver lining ruffle tunic, $36

hitting the books messenger bag, $58

After looking for months, I believe I have finally found my perfect pair of nude-ish pumps after searching every brand you can possibly imagine. Nothing seems to fit my slightly smaller left foot to match my slightly larger right foot. I've also been trying to stay under $100, but screw it all to hell. These look perfect to wear with dresses, jean leggings and shorts if I'm brave enough to buy a pair of those things.

Meet Kelsi Dagger from Linzy

5 inches of perfection from Zappos, $120

Meet Jewel from Sam Edelman

love the mary jane pump, $99

Or a pair of espardille shoes like these from Vince Camuto

here we come wedges, $98

I do believe I've earned myself a spring spree, don't you?

house duty hell

Let's get real here people, I'm probably the last person who should own a house because I have zero patience.

I have zero patience when my heat stops working. I want to be able to call maintenance to come and fix it and go about my day. I have zero patience for annoying bill companies either. When I lived in an apartment, I didn't have to deal with the Cleveland Water department. If you live in Cleveland have to deal with this company, I'm sure you can empathize and if you've been fighting with them for a solid year now, you probably understand my point even more.

Plus, there's gardening, roofs that cost as much as three trips to Mexico and other items that seem to break at the most inopportune times.

Last week, the BF and I got into it about housework.
"Allison, I think it's pretty clear which one of us does more work around the house."
"Ohhhhhh really, BF. Because you've cleaned the bathroom how many times in the last year?"
"When have you ever mopped?"
"I don't even know where you hide the mop!"

(Yes, he hides the mop. How the hell am I supposed to find the mop when he puts it in a closet I didn't even know we had?)

Happy homeowning I tell you!

dark ride - a lexus event

Monday, March 21, 2011
"I like my beats fast and my bass down low."

I've been singing this over and over since Dev's performance last night at the Dark Ride event at Playhouse Square. What an amazing time! I headed over to the event with the plum herself, Sean and a bunch of our friends to the event where we quickly found CLEshopalic and Alana before heading to the stage for the performances.

The place was completely transformed with dancers, colored lights with Absolut bars in every corner and looked completely different from the Jump Back Ball last month. The party was ushered onto the stage where DJ Flaco spun while the Cavs dancers rocked out and then Dev took the stage followed by Jay Sean, who has a hot British accent.

love the chandeliers

with my friends (doesn't the middle one look like Kim K.?)

Loved Dev's performance

Jay Sean with DJ Flaco

Erin in the car we both want but can't afford just yet
Thank you to Playhouse Square and Lexus for putting on this party again and extending the invitation to me.

Disclosure: As a blogger, I was given tickets to attend this fabulous event and brought my friends to accompany me. And, they are incredibly thankful as well.

kickin' in the front seat, kickin' in the back seat

Fun, fun, fun,

party and party and yeah!

party and party and yeah!

It's Frrriiiidaaaaaay, Friddddaaaayyyy

What the hell is going on in this video?

What the hell is going on with her voice?

And why can I stop singing to it!

Clearly the kids stole the convertible can't legally drive because I'm pretty sure the driver is 13 years old not to mention everyone at the party either has braces or isn't over 4 foot.

While this is a lame excuse for a post, I bet you will be singing this for the rest of the weeekkkend.

April Fools Early

I'm not much of a practical joker.

Other than throwing cold water on the BF in the shower (only because he does the same thing to me), I don't really play jokes on him.

In anticipation of April Fool's, the BF and I decided to play a little joke on his family this past weekend. There have a been a lot of big announcements from his brothers with both of them getting married this year, so we thought we should pretend we got engaged. (FYI - we are not engaged.)

While driving, the BF thought it would be better if we told them I was knocked up instead of engaged.

"I don't think I'll be able to keep a straight face but it will be hilarious," he says after he shares his hilarious idea. But I can!

After being there for about 15 minutes, I said that the BF and I had something important to tell everyone and explained that I wasn't fat but rather we were pregnant.

Now, apparently  I was incredibly believable because jaws dropped, "OH MY GODs" were shrieked and even a few "You'vvvveee got to be kidding me's!"

If I pulled this one in front of my parents, they would've laughed at me and called bullshit early on. Although we've been dating for 4 and a half years, I'm pretty sure his family doesn't get my humor or are incredibly gullible.

His mom eventually calmed down, his dad finally heard what I said that caused everyone to laugh, and she came back into the room to only hear his future sister-in-law say "well, you could be pregnant and not know it," which caused me to give her the shut-the-hell-up sign.

I do believe I pulled off my first joke pretty damn well, don't you?

dark ride: vip experience giveaway

While I enjoyed a relatively low key weekend featuring brunch at Lucky's Cafe, a quick trip into Banyan Tree and seeing the King's Speech at Capitol Theater, I'm already looking forward to next Saturday because a kick ass party I was invited to along with Alexa, Alana and CleShopaholic.

This Saturday, Playhouse Square, 96.5 KISS FM and Cleveland/Akron Lexus dealers are hosting Dark Ride: VIP Experience and launch party of the Lexus CT200h starts at 8:30 p.m. in the State Theater with performances by Jay Sean, DEV and DJ Flaco.

For 700 lucky attendees, you will walk into the State transformed into the Lexus lifestyle experience to a nightclub with a red carpet, champagne, Absolut martini ice bar and hor d'oeuvres with special performances throughout the evening and the new CT200h on display. (I may try to even drive it out of the place somehow.I haven't quite figured it out but I have a few days to craft a plan.)

Tickets are available for the VIP event at Metro Lexus on March 15 from 5 to 6 p.m. (look for the KISS FM street teams), on KISS FM, from Metromix here or from my blog, so you can't purchase tickets for this anywhere.

However, the lovely ladies at Playhouse Square gave me 2 pair of tickets to giveaway for Saturday's event.

To enter:
1) Leave a comment of your favorite rap/dance/booty shaking song of all time.
2) Tweet about the contest  - I want to go to the VIP Dark Ride on Saturday with @allisonpeltz and @playhousesquare.
3) You must be 21 to enter and you HAVE to LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS because otherwise how will I contact you to pick up your tickets?

Contest closes on Thursday, March 17, and I will announce the giveaway shortly after winners are chosen.

Disclaimer: PlayhouseSquare provided me with tickets for this fabulous events and I'll be attending with friends, dancing all night long.

one year later...

One year ago this weekend, the BF and I moved into our house when it wasn't snowing in March as it is this March.

Isn't moving soooooooo much fun? To recap our move, read this little post here.

Since we've moved in, we had high hopes of quickly painting every room, buying new furniture and maybe even getting a head start of making some changes to the kitchen like countertops and flooring. (Real sexy stuff, I know.)

However, in my whopping one year of ownership, I've learned a few valuable lessons and not completed half of those projects.

1) We have a narrow driveway so I must pay attention as I back out my Mazda 3 even though I want to ram it into the house to get a new car.

2) There are kids everywhere! So, I need to be careful as I back out of the driveway.

3) Money doesn't grow on trees in the backyard so we have to be selective in our purchases seeing as you have all these new fees like house insurance and ridiculous expensive water and heating bills.

But, we did make two key purchases that make me smile everyday since we've taken ownership of the little bungalow.

I bow down to the snow thrower. It makes the BF's life a hell of a lot easier to clear the driveway so I don't fall down and bust my ass from the garage to the house.
Look at him go!

And, a brand new queen bed! No more elbowing each other in the middle of the night or pushing each other around. Just sound sleeping for both of us.

Complete with an upholstered bed
While we still have awhile to go to update rooms, knock off a decrepit back porch and add furniture, I'm patting myself on the back for making two sound decisions. See Dad - I do listen to your advice sometimes, just sometimes though.

he's a comedian too

Wednesday, March 9, 2011
If you know the BF in real life, you know he's some kind of crazy character and if you only know him online, I'm sure you still think he's some kind of crazy character based on the stories I share.

He is always sharing random information that I wish he would just keep to himself. Like the time he told me he loved the movie Titanic, or how he can rap old school Notorious B.I.G. or sing along to Bell Biv Devoe.

Random thoughts from the BF:

While listening to rap music in the car, "Babe, I should've been an R&B artist. They'd call me Lil' Tweezy."

While watching making him watch the Mariah Carey takeover on Fuse, "you know, I had a mix CD with some Mariah on it. The ladies loovvvveed it."

On a random car ride, 50 Cent's "In Da Club" comes on and I say, "Oh, how this song reminds me of college" and I remember the hilarious times with my friends on College St. in Kent State. He adds, "This song reminds me of grinding on girls in the basement of Blind Pig."

I think he needs to be hosed off with disinfectant after that comment.

she danced her earring off

What a weekend that was!

Three glorious days with some of my oldest friends.

I'm laughing just thinking about our antics and will spare you any inside jokes from the weekend.

My friend Danielle and I got there late on Thursday night and had all of Friday to tour the city. That was the plan, however, we were incredibly tired from our drive and didn't wake up until 11 a.m. We finally got our act together and headed to the National Mall to take some pictures and enjoy the 50 degree weather.

Hanging out with Prez Lincoln

Some parts are under construction
When the rest of the girls joined us on Friday night, we headed to Spider Kelly's to have a low key night filled with douche bags and jersey shore wannabes. Our table was hit with some winners trying to pick up my friends and me. I was even called a valasa raptor by Pauly D's brother after I appeared uninterested in his pick-up lines. Oh boys!

On Saturday afternoon, we all headed to Georgetown, shopped around got a late lunch at Farmers & Fishers and enjoyed more 50 degree weather.

street shot

I'm aware I have iPhone issues and this proves it once more.
To end the weekend with a bang, we finally got all 6 of us ready and headed to a late dinner at Urbana in Dupont Circle and had a fabulous meal. From the wine to the meal to the dessert, it was all around a great night where we continued to dance at Lima Lounge and then the Park at 14. Both places were quite interesting to say the least but my newly single friend wanted to dance - so dance we did. All night long. My friend danced so much she lost her earring during her dance off with one of the members of the Far East Movement. I swear - he looked just like him!

The lost earring is what we heard about all the way from the club back to the apartment and for the next hour  because they "were her favorite earrings." And, I'm still getting texts that if anyone finds earrings like the one she  lost, she wants three pairs of them!

great end to a hilarious weekend

road trippin'

Thursday, March 3, 2011
I'll be heading to D.C. this weekend to spend quality time with all the ladies below.

Friends I've had since I was 14.

Friends who got into a little trouble in high school together.

Friends who've dated their handful of interesting characters.

Friends who appreciate my erratic dancing and vibrant personality.

And who all know how to cause a little trouble and have a lot of fun.

When was the last time you took a road trip?

Taken on last year's DC trip.
